Iran, South Korea, Japan and Saudi Arabiia qualify for 2006 world cup
With the host country, Germany, already in the 2006 world cup, Japan became the first team to qualify for the 2006 world cup by beating North Korea 2-0.
The Japan vs. North Korea match was held in Bangkok, Thailand in any empty Supachalasai Stadium. This was due to North Korea's last match against Iran that ended up in riot. Japan won this match 2-0.
Iran played Bahrain and won 1-0 in front of 100,000 fans in the Sazadi Stadium in Tehran, Iran. Since Japan and Iran are at the top of the standings, they cannot be caught in the division.
The next team to qualify for the 2006 world cup was Saudi Arabia who beat Uzbekistan 3-0 at Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. There were 75,000 fans at King Fahd Stadium.
The last team to qualify for the 2006 world cup was South Korea who beat Kuwait 2-0 in a very hot sandstorm. The Kuwait fans hurled rocks and bottles after South Korea went up 2-0.
