Peter Ueberroth Says New York City on Verge of Losing Olympics in 2012
The game of determining who gets the Olympics is complex. So complex that some people have designated mathematical formulas for determining which city gets the Olympics. They even sport a Bid Index, which tracks each host city like a stock exchange. Currently Paris is in the lead followed by London.
Peter Ueberroth sent a letter to the two houses of the New York State Legislature explaining that the Olympic bid is in danger due to the inability to move a stadium approval plan forward.
He said, "New York's bid will not be successful."
The issue centers around the proposed stadium in Manhattan that would become the future home of the New York Jets.
Even with the stadium agreement finalized the bid isn't secure. The amount of effort needed to make it this far could sour the Olympic organizers.
