Marion Jones retires quits
I wish that headline was for her career. Marion Jones has become an embarrassment to her sport and to our country. She quit during the US track and field Championships in Carson, California. Supposedly, it was due to a strained quadriceps.
Marion Jones has been tied to the BALCO drug scandal with the owner of BALCO and ever her husband saying she used illegal drugs. Marion has denied this, but her recent performances don't lend credibility to her claims.
Rich Nichols, her attorney, said:
She's extremely disappointed. She wanted to see if it would loosen up, but she took a couple of attempts and it wasn't getting any better.
I bet she's disappointed. Each time Marion Jones goes out and fails it is more fodder for those who believe she was a juicer.
People can see through this charade. Ken Soldavini, a spectator at the event, said:
She just doesn't have it anymore. She didn't want to embarrass herself.
Ding.
But does this mean anything who surround her and advise her? Not at all. Just listen to her coach, Steve Riddick:
Marion Jones will come back and be her old self.
For the love of the sport, Marion, drop your lawsuits and retire. Let the fans and history remember you as the champion you once were in your glory whether it was drug induced or not.
