Peter King Watch: Minnesota Vikings to win NFC in 2005
Peter King is back about his early predication for the winner of the NFC. It's the Minnesota Vikings. He also features a couple of notes on Kellen Winslow, Jr. (the idiot) and some NFL veterans that might be cut.
Peter King starts off his column with:
NFC Championship Game, Jan. 22, 2006, at the Metrodome: Minnesota 24, Carolina 16.
Interesting. Peter King things the Minnesota Vikings will win the NFC championship game over Carolina. (His AFC prediction is next week.)
Peter gives four reasons that the Minnesota Vikings will win the NFC:
- The Philadelphia Eagles cannot continue to win due to team chemistry and the football gods.
- The offseason moves the Minnesota Vikings made especially with their defense. Peter reports Mike Tice said, "This is the best I've felt about a team at this time of year since I've been in Minnesota."
- The Minnesota Vikings path to the home field advantage is easier than anyone else.
- Peter thinks previous season results are indicative of a trend in the NFC. Most teams had .500 or less than .500 seasons.
Here are Peter King's initial prediction about the NFC:
Division winners: Philadelphia, Minnesota, Carolina, Arizona.
Wild Cards: Dallas, Green Bay.
KELLEN WINSLOW, JR. (THE IDIOT)
Peter then touches on Kellen Winslow, Jr. (the idiot):
I think it is preposterous that Kellen Winslow gets away with making a statement (yeah, right, I'm sure those were his words) and doesn't have to face the music in the media after his motorcycle injury. This kid is too sheltered for my liking. He's a jillion-dollar player in a very public sport, and he should be made to stand in front of the press and explain what he did and why he did it. "In hindsight,'' the statement said, "it was unwise to attempt to learn to ride a motorcycle without a professional instructor in a controlled environment.'' I mean, who possibly believes those words, or even those thoughts, came out of Winslow? Ludicrous.
Finally, the last interesting thing this week, is Peter's list of veterans who may be affected by cap issues:
- Peter Boulware
- Calvin Pace, DE, Arizona
- Dan Neil, G, Denver
- Bobby Taylor, CB
- Lance Schulters
- Cincinnati WR Peter Warrick
- Washington RB/KR Chad Morton
- Kansas City Johnie Morton
Good column this week. It'll be interesting to see if he picks the New England Patriots next week. Given Peter's love for the team you can almost guarantee it.
