Alex Smith the beaten rookie debuts to mistakes concussion

What I love about the NFL are the underdogs. The guys who are drafted in the lower rounds that make an impact in the league. Heck, I am a sucker for a Kurt Warner story. Alex Smith of the San Francisco 49ers is no Kurt Warner.

I do take a certain delight in watching a number one pick fail. Jealousy is the root of that feeling and I can deal with it. Guys like Alex Smith are pumped up so much prior to the draft that they have no where to go but down. And that was the case as Alex Smith took the field against the Indianapolis Colts.

Remember, these aren't your typical all offense, no defense Colts. These guys are focused on defense this year and it's showing. Tony Dungy is working them hard, focusing on the important fundamentals on defense. Alex Smith couldn't have been thrown into the mix at a worse time.

Alex Smith says:

I don't think it's bad to be frustrated or disappointed. I know the situation I'm in, and there's a long road ahead of us. You watch the film, and it wasn't that bad. I did do a lot of good things. It was hard, but obviously there's a lot to be excited about.

{insert blank stare}

A lot to be excited about?

Did Alex Smith receive a concussion from the Indianapolis Colts.

Dude. And I tell you this for your own protection. Run. Don't trust your career to the retreads they call an offensive line in San Francisco. Don't think you're going to become a typical pocket passes with these yahoos.
