NFL Predictions Week 7 2005 - Bengals blood will spill
Last week I went 10-4, which proves that even after a 6-8 week you can come back! Here are the statistics so far:
Week 5 (14 games): 6-8 - 42%
Week 6 (14 games): 10-4 - 71%
Cumulative (28 games): 16-12 - 57%
This week should be pretty easy, as there aren't that many possible upsets. One disclaimer ... I am used to doing this on Saturday morning, not on Friday. This change was necessitated due to the rescheduling of the Kansas City Chiefs vs. Miami Dolphins game.
Kansas City at Miami
This is the rescheduled game that won't be shown anywhere except Kansas City and Miami. Can someone please explain to me why I pay the money for DirecTicket? Is it to see a tape delayed game? No. Regardless of this, the Miami Dolphins haven't had any spark on offense, but this is the Kansas City Chiefs defense. Still, I don't see the Dolphins scoring much. Chiefs 35 - Dolphins 28.
Detroit at Cleveland
A tale of two teams, both not that good, but the Detroit Lions are in first place in the NFC Worst. The Browns had high expectations this year, but then they were Dilfered. The Braylon Edwards situation hurts the Browns, but it's really their new defense, which hasn't gelled at all. Detroit Lions 21 - Cleveland Browns 17.
Green Bay at Minnesota
This is a must win for the Green Bay Packers and is another game during the Mike Tice deathwatch. The Vikings are a horrible team with no clear prospects to win. The Packers will be coming off a bye and have done a great job pulling together during their losing streak. Packers 24 - Vikings 21.
Indianapolis at Houston
In a showdown of the best in the league versus the worse, the only thing the Houston Texans have going for them is that they don't have to fly anywhere to get their clocked clean. This game will be a mismatch by all meaning of the word. Even though Bob McNair has said he won't settle for losses anymore, this one is a definite loss. Indianapolis 45 - Texans 3.
New Orleans at St. Louis
Man. This is a tough one as I am huge Rams fan, but I have to be honest. Jamie Martin sucks. The Saints have always played the Rams tough and this won't be any different. Am I a homer for picking the Rams? Yes. Rams 34 - Saints 31.
Pittsburgh at Cincinnati
Probably the best game of the week is the Steelers versus the Bengals. The Bengals are in the lead of the AFC North and Marvin Lewis has his boys ready. Pittsburgh has a injured quarterback coming back. The game is in Cincinnati. This one is going to be a bloodbath, but the Bengals will be victorious. Bengals 27 - Steelers 17.
San Diego at Philadelphia
Which Eagles team will show up? I don't think even if the good Eagles show up they have a chance. I think LTD is on fire and Antonio Gates is going to have a monster game. I don't think the Eagles defense can hold the Chargers long enough to let their offense show up. Charger - 24 - Eagles 13.
San Francisco at Washington
I almost picked the 49ers to win this thing. With Rattay gone from the 49ers, they have to rely on a rookie quarterback Alex Smith. The Redskins are watering at the mouth to get Smith. Redskins 24 - 49ers 10.
Dallas at Seattle
This game is going to depend on the Cowboys. They should be fired up after their win over the New York Giants, but they are a cocky bunch. Something tells me that Shaun Alexander is going to have a monster day running the ball and the Bledsoe will throw two interceptions. Seahawks 32 - Cowboys 17.
Baltimore at Chicago
Two great defenses. Two horrible offenses. The offenses probably won't score during the first half. It's hard to not pick the Baltimore Ravens as Chicago has the Orton factor to worry about. Ravens 12 - Bears 6.
Buffalo at Oakland
The Bills have put together a win streak, while the Raiders are still trying to put together Moss. The Bills defense has collapsed without Spikes, but the Raiders offense has collapsed with Moss. Bills 24 - Raiders 13.
Denver at New York Giants
This is the second hardest game to call. If it were in Denver it'd be the Broncos hands down. But it's in New York. I don't think the Giants have the defense to stop the running game of the Broncos, but then I don't the Broncos have the defense to stop the Giants passing game. High scoring game. Giants 37 - Broncos 32.
Tennessee at Arizona
The Titans, as the youngest team in football, are playing the second youngest team in football. Dennis Green is playing "guess my quarterback." I like the Cardinals in this one as they are coming off a bye. Cardinals 20 - Titans 13.
N.Y. Jets at Atlanta
Vinny! Vinny! Ouch. I don't think he'll last the whole game against the Falcons. Falcons 30 - Jets 20.
