saints move to san antonio being pursued by mayor hardberger

It's common knowledge that the New Orleans Saints' owner Tom Benson isn't happy with the Superdome in New Orleans. And that was before Hurricane Katrina came through the city.

Although the New Orleans Saints have a lease on the Superdome until 2010, there are certain stipulations that wouold allow them to break the lease.

Mayor Hardberger is pushing his case very hard using political and business connections. He's even compared the ticket sales in San Antonio for those in Baton Rouge, where other New Orleans Saints home games will be played. The Mayor said:

The truth is they are not selling tickets in Baton Rouge. Do you want to see half of the seats filled or all of the seats?

Ouch.

The mayor continued said about Paul Taglibue the NFL commissioner:

(He) doesn't want them here. He wants them in Baton Rouge, and the only reason he wants them there is he doesn't want them to settle in here and be successful. Otherwise, Baton Rouge makes no sense because we will outsell their tickets, two to one. (Benson) doesn't want to be in Baton Rouge, where he would be losing money every game.
