NFL Predictions Week 12 2005 - Bears will sink the Bucs at home
Last week I went 9-7, but that didn't hurt as much as the Bengals getting beaten. Ouch. This week there are two early games, of which one should be a blow out and the other should be very competitive.:
Week 5 Predictions (14 games): 6-8 - 42%
Week 6 Predictions (14 games): 10-4 - 71%
Week 7 Predictions (14 games): 9-5 65%
Week 8 Predictions (14 games): 11-3 - 79%
Week 9 Predictions (14 games): 11-3 - 79%
Week 10 Predictions (14 games): 6-8 - 42%
Week 11 Predictions (16 games): 9-7 - 56%
Cumulative (100 games): 62-38 - 62%
Atlanta at Detroit
The first turkey day game is going to be a turkey. Michael Vick has been the picture of the perfect pocket passer the last two weeks and he's lost. This game he's going to run again and right over the Lions. Harrington is starting for the Lions, which means they'll lose. Falcons 27 - Lions 17.
Denver at Dallas
I love this game. It's a great match up between two really good teams and two excellent coaches. Parcells always seems to have a trick up his sleeve for these big games, so I can't wait to see what he brings to the table. The big questions is whether the Dallas defense can stop the Broncos running game. I don't think they can. Broncos will win, but it's going to be close. Broncos 24 - Cowboys 21.
Baltimore at Cincinnati
Cincinnati is coming off the disappointment of losing to Indianapolis, while Baltimore is coming off an overtime win against the Steelers. If it weren't for Tommy Maddox the Steelers win that last game. The Ravens are a broken team, while the Bengals have to prove they deserve to be in the playoffs. Bengals 17 - Ravens 9.
Carolina at Buffalo
You have to feel sorry for the Bills. They're going to be taking on a Panthers team that was beaten up last week by the Bears. The Panthers are going to be pumped and ready to roll over the lifeless Bills. Panthers 35 - Bills 19.
Chicago at Tampa Bay
The game of the week as far as I am concerned. The Bears needed a game to legitimize their standing in the league and they got it last week. Tampa Bay saved their season by going into Atlanta and winning. The difference in this game is going to be Chris Simms. He's going to be hit more often that a bottle of Jack at the Thanksgiving family get together. Bears 20 - Bucs 12.
Cleveland at Minnesota
I don't know what to make of these teams. The Browns somehow shut out the Dolphins last week and finally looked like an NFL team. The Vikings are showing signs of life. Any other week I'd be less interested in this game than the dark meat leftovers, but this week it's intriguing. I gotta go with the Vikings at home. Look for Charlie Frye to play more than he did last week. Vikings 24 - Browns 15.
New England at Kansas City
Pretty much a must win for Kansas City after the egg they laid in Buffalo last week. The Patriots are the team that "just wins." Though they hardly have a running game, the Patriots do have Tom Brady. I'm going to pick this as my upset of the week and go with the Chiefs at home. Chiefs 34 - Patriots 27.
San Diego at Washington
What can you make of the Redskins? They had the game won last weekend, but then fell apart. Even if Antonio Gates is out I don't see how the Redskins can stop LTD. I guess the only thing that will stop the Chargers are themselves. Marty isn't known as the man who can finish off a game. I expect this one to be close in the first half with the Chargers running away in the second half. Chargers 32 - Redskins 21.
San Francisco at Tennessee
A good game featuring two young teams. The 49ers almost pulled off the upset last week against the Seahawks, but just couldn't do it. The Titans are in a rebuilding year, but have shown signs of life. This one's a toss up, but I am going with the 49ers. 49ers 23 - Titans 17.
St. Louis at Houston
Looking at the schedule when the season began you would have said this would be a blow out. With the way the Rams have disintegrated this year the Texans may just win this one. Which Rams team is going to show up? I think the good one. Rams 28 - Texans 17.
Jacksonville at Arizona
The Jaguars need this victory to keep their playoff hopes alive. The Cardinals need this victory to keep their season momentum. Too bad that playoff aspirations beat out momentum. Jaguars 31 - Cardinals 27.
Miami at Oakland
Oh, the Dolphins. They suck. Oh, the Raiders. They win games they shouldn't. The Dolphins won't get shut out again, but then again they won't be able to stop Moss and company. Raiders 24 - Dolphins 13.
Green Bay at Philadelphia
This could have been a great game. Now it's just another game. Green Bay has a tradition this year of losing by 3 points or less. That'll continue against the Eagles. Eagles 19 - Packers 17.
N.Y. Giants at Seattle
This is the second best game of the week after the Bears/Bucs. I like the Giants in this game for the simple fact I still maintain the Seahawks aren't the best team in the NFC. Their luck runs out on Sunday. Giants 31 - Seahawks 20.
New Orleans at N.Y. Jets
Worst game of the week. Two teams going into the cellar. Herm Edwards would play the games on fast forward if he had a chance. He just wants to get out of New York. Someone has to win, right? Saints 28 - Jets 13.
Pittsburgh at Indianapolis
Colts will have no problem with the Steelers whether they have Big Ben back or not. Colts 35 - Steelers 24.
