Health Clubs and Gyms Losing Money though Industry is Up
So what would you say if I told you the health and fitness industry is in an unequaled amount of growth? For the past 12 years it's grown. That's an amazing run.
Now, what if I told you that the individual health clubs and gyms were making little money at all?
According to the press release this is the case. The release says:
The health and fitness industry has grown every year for the past 12 years; 39.4 million Americans now belong to health clubs. Sadly, 77% of gym owners are seeing a decline in revenue.
The press release is for a company called Profit Partners. They claim to be "The Health Club Industry's Premier Marketing Firm."
The press release does have some stats that are interesting:
- People spend less time thinking about buying a $2,000 TV than a $50 a month membership.
- 52% of people take 3 months or longer to research a health club or gym.
Now, these are shocking numbers, but there is no source for the survey past a "nationwide survey" tag. Also, when you go to their site you'll see it looks unprofessional and has a Google PR of 0.
What does this mean? Probably nothing, but it is interesting if the statistics are close to true.
