University of Pittsburgh is Pitt Again -- New Logos

In 1997 the University of Pittsburgh changed their logos from the word PITT to the University of Pittsburgh. It was a dramatic shift as they had been using the logo since the 1920s.

All that changed today as the University of Pittsburgh brings back PITT.

While the Athletic Director, Jeff Long, says:

We will promote the Pitt name to a more prominent place in the identification of our athletic teams and continue to use the University of Pittsburgh reference as well.

I bet. More than likely PITT sells better than University of Pittsburgh.
