Fencing equipment
The personal equipment of a fencer includes the following:
A uniform made of strong material which will cover the neck, trunk, arms and legs of the body. The cost of a uniform runs from $64.00 up, but any heavy white duck trousers will suffice, and a jacket may be purchased for $28.00.
A wire mesh mask is another necessity and costs about $20.00.
A padded glove (for the weapon hand only) is available for $10.00.
Weapons are not expensive. A nonelectric foil costs $14.00, a nonelectric epee about $18.00 and a sabre about $20.00. An electric foil sells for about $18.00 and an electric epee for about a dollar less. Replacement blades for all weapons are available beginning at $14.00.
