Bob Zuppke is known best for the fighting spirit that he instilled in all of his players. He coached fundamentals and left nothing to chance. His training of both Red Grange and George Halas attests to his skill as a coach and a leader of men.
His remarks to his graduating seniors lamenting the fact that just as they had begun to learn what football was all about they would be graduating and giving it all up, provided the spark that led George Halas in his relentless quest for "post-graduate" experience in pro-football. Indirectly, Bob Zuppke helped found the National Football League.
