What was Fielding H. Yost greatest accomplishment
Fielding H. Yost was a standout coach for building a strong line capable not only of driving back the opposition, but executing fast and effective downfield blocking assignments.
His Michigan teams were famous for both their bruising attack and their all-around containment of the opposition's offense. His "point a minute" teams in the period from 1901 to 1905 played 56 consecutive games without suffering defeat and rang up an all-time high of 2,821 points against a 5 year total for their combined opponents of only 40 points.
Far from being a "head knocker" Yost developed men like Benny Friedman who could think their way to touchdowns.
