Why was Guy Chamberlin a great coach

Guy Chamberlin was outstanding both as a player and as a coach. During the three seasons he played for Nebraska the team never lost, defeating Notre Dame and other top teams.

A thrilling left handed passer he was known as the finest end in football. He and George Halas were the Chicago Bear ends when the Bears defeated the Buffalo All Americans in the Pro-Championship contest of 1921. As player-coach for the Canton Bulldogs his team won every game during 1922 and 1923. He moved with the Bulldogs to Cleveland and won another championship there in 1924.

Following a two-year rebuilding assignment with the Frankfort Yellow Jackets near Philadelphia he ended up with the all-time record of four pro-championships in five years in three different cities. The Yellow Jackets beat the Chicago Bears 7 to 6 in 1926 when Chamberlin blocked the Bear's point after touchdown try.
