Paul E. Brown has demonstrated through the years that football is a living, breathing, ever evolving way of life. Its forward progress never stops. Any apparent stagnation is only in the minds Of a few coaches who say, "stop, this is far enough, let's go no further." Paul Brown has gone all the way and he still sees no end in sight for the further development of the game. As the coach for Massillon High in Northeastern Ohio he saw to it that every young male of a certain age got a football for Christmas.

He made certain that the players on his team got ample food at home even if he had to make a special financial arrangement with the local market. With minute and basic preparation like this how could he help but be a success as the head coach at Ohio State?

How could he miss out on masterminding the Cleveland Browns to repeated Championships in two different professional football leagues? His "silent count", "flare-control" and "come out" pass patterns have contributed tremendously to the advancement of the game. Paul Brown has been assailed by some critics for calling all the plays from the bench.

What these people may not realize is that the inward bound "play bearer" sometimes brought word for the quarterback to use his own judgement. Regardless of the game's outcome however, Paul Brown took full responsibility . . . and the Cleveland fans could cheer a winning team. He was the Brown's Vice-President.
