Fishing with birds

The old sportsman went fishing one bitter cold morning, and it was only after he had unpacked his gear that he discovered that he had brought everything along with him except bait. He was about to pack up and leave when suddenly a little sparrow dropped down beside him.

The old sportsman was astonished to see that the little bird had a big fat wriggling worm in its beak. He gently took the worm from the bird's mouth and cut it into several pieces to be used as bait. Then, noticing that the half-frozen sparrow was looking at him with a pitiful expression in its eyes, he dug out his flask and poured a few life-giving drops into its beak. The bird, seemingly invigorated, flew off, and the old sportsman began fishing.

A few minutes later, something landed on his shoulder and he almost jumped out of his skin with shock. Turning his head carefully, he was relieved to see that it was only his little friend back again. But this time there were three fine fat worms in the little sparrow's beak.
