Frank Garner jockey tightwad

Many years ago, a famous jockey, Frank Garner, who was also notorious as a tightwad, rode Typhoon to victory in the Kentucky Derby. The jockey decided that a celebration was in order. So he invited the entire jockey colony to a dinner at the most expensive restaurant in Louisville.

About one hundred guests, jockeys, trainers, grooms, stable boys and hangers-on, all crowded into the restaurant to eat at Frank Garner's expense. When the large assemblage was seated around the tables in the swanky dining room, jockey Garner arose and shouted happily:

"Listen, friends! This is a special occasion and I want all of you to have a good time and eat well. So all of you order something fancy and extra special."

That turf crowd wasn't exactly used to eating anything fancy, so they told Garner to order dinner for everyone. For a few minutes there was a deep and expectant hush as the famous tightwad jockey studied the menu. Then he yelled at the waiter:

"Bring us one hundred dollars' worth of ham and eggs, fancy and extra special!"
