A couple of nervous horse players were standing at the rail watching an exciting race in which they had bet on different horses. Their two choices came down the stretch a half length or so apart and the one whose horse was trailing began to try to root his animal home.

"Get up there!" he screamed. "Go to the outside! Look out, you're going to get into a pocket! Keep going! Keep going! Outside! Outside! Look out for the hole! Look out-"

The other nervous player grabbed his friend by the sleeve angrily. "Leave that horse alone!" he yelled. "You're making him nervous!"
