Sportsman that duel sports
Two friendly but timid sportsmen had an argument. The battle of words waxed hot and furious until one of the men slapped his friend's face. The man who got slapped challenged his hot-tempered friend to a duel, and the challenge was accepted. Seconds were quickly chosen, and the two timid sportsmen agreed to fight the duel on the following morning in a secluded clearing-with pistols at twenty paces.
Came the dawn and only one of the would-be duelists showed up. He and his seconds impatiently waited for his opponent ten minutes, thirty minutes, an hour-but no opponent. Finally, a messenger arrived breathlessly with a note from the missing man. It read:
"My dear friend, I may be delayed, but please don't wait. Meanwhile, you shoot!"
