This happened to Lone Star Dietz who coached the Boston Redskin football professionals some years ago. Lone Star preferred to do his coaching during games from the pressbox where he could get a better view of the proceedings on the gridiron below.

Before the kick-off (the Redskins were playing the New York Giants at Fenway Park), Lone Star called his boys together. "If you win the toss," he said, "I want you to elect to kick off to the Giants. Got that?"

The boys nodded and Lone Star took off on the long long climb up the Fenway Park ramp to the pressbox. He finally reached it and came through the door. To his great astonishment, he saw the Redskins lining up to receive the kick-off.

Lone Star grabbed the phone and started cussing out the Boston bench. "I thought I told you to kick off" he roared.

"We did kick off, coach," was the answer. "Where've you been? The score is now 7-0."
