Lou Little Columbia football

Lou Little, former Columbia football coach, was blessed with a wonderful sense of humor, a quality that stood him in good stead over his years.

It was during one game that Lou was suddenly startled to discover that he had twelve men on the field. The opposition ran several plays and still the officials did not notice the error. At last Lou was able to send in a new quarterback with instructions to send the other signal caller and another player to the bench.

When the two men came running to the sideline, Lou called the young quarterback over. "Tell me," he began, "Why did you use that 6-2-2-2 defense out there? Why didn't you try 7-2-2-1 instead?"

The youngster looked puzzled. "Why, coach," he replied, "how could I? You haven't even taught us that one yet!"
