Nick Lukats, one of Notre Dame's formergridiron greats, was visiting with some old friends he had not seen for a long time. The friends wondered about whether the old campus had changed much and kept pouring questions about the old and familiar landmarks so dear to them.

At the entrance to the campus in South Bend there is a statue of Father Sorin, the priest who founded Notre Dame. The statue stands on a pedestal and has been there for many years. It shows the good father with his right arm extended straight up to heaven.

"How about the statue of Father Sorin?" one of his friends asked Nick Lukats. "Is it still where it used to be?"

"Oh, yes," replied Lukats with a smile.

"Then tell me," the friend continued, "is he still signaling for a fair catch?"
