The Centre College team had somehow acquired the nickname of "Praying Colonels" on the report that Charley Moran led his players in prayer before each game.

Moran brought his little team to Cambridge one year to upset Harvard in the most startling form reversal on the gridiron. A few minutes before Centre was to take the field, the players were chatting and laughing in the locker room, waiting to go out.

Suddenly the door burst open and Moran flung himself into the room. "Down on your knees, quick!" he gasped. "A reporter's coming!"
