Was Norm Van Brocklin the best pocket passer
Norm Van Brocklin is not only a great player but an excellent coach. Perhaps he is just too impatient to realize this himself. Even in the days when he quarterbacked the Rams he showed a genius for coaching.
It showed up more convincingly when he quarterbacked "Greasy" Neale's Philadelphia Eagles to their World's Championship of 1960 defeating Green Bay 17 to 13. Norm proved that you don't have to have the fastest footwork in the world if your mind works quickly enough and your passes are timed to hit their mark.
As an old "stay in the cup" quarterback, he now coaches the greatest "scrambler" of them all - Fran Tarkenton.
