How to hold archery competitions contests
Another method of maintaining interest is to divide the club or class into various teams and have them compete against each other. These tournaments may be supplemented with straight elimination and accumulative or round-robin competition.
Along with the inter-member competition it is well to select a team or teams to compete by mail or email with teams of other clubs or schools. Teams may be selected by picking the highest scorers in the tournaments held during the current season, or by having all mem- bers shoot and using only the four highest scores (or other agreed upon number) as a representative team. If in certain schools or localities it does not seem f easible to form archery clubs, many interesting activities can be carried on in connection with the regular class work. In f act, the same tournaments, matches, and novelty events may be used in class as in the club. The only loss is the absence of the club organization and its business aff airs, which serve to stimulate interest among the members.
It is advisable for each individual archer, club, or class member to join the National Archery Association. For a small fee the Archery Bulletin may be obtained. This contains many interesting matters and scores of the various current tournaments promoted over the country. It keeps one posted and in touch with other clubs and their activities.
The archery season can be lengthened by the use of indoor ranges. This enables the archers to keep in practice throughout the winter months for the more intensive outdoor shooting in the spring and summer.
