What as the all-american conference
Organized in the post-war forties the now defunct All-American Conference sought open competition with the National Football League. Unlike the American Football League which developed mostly upon territory, the old AAC group made a frontal attack and ended up strengthening the NFL.
After the Cleveland Rams moved to Los Angeles, the Browns joined the NFL, followed by the Colts and the 49ers. Now the NFL and AFL have merged with not one team as a fatality.
