How to improve footwork in badminton
Ordinarily it is poor strategy to try many kills when in the back court. It is usually better to volley the bird high to your opponent's back court, preferably to his backhand, until you have an opportunity to "kill" from mid or front court.
Because of the construction of the bird it is almost impossible to put "English" on the missile. However, one can strike with a slightly slanted racket which is deceptive for it directs the bird somewhat off the line of the swing.
Footwork.
Footwork plays a very important part in all shots and when waiting for a service or return, one should be pretty well up on the toes, not off balance, and ready to move quickly in the desired direction. when making a forehand shot the left foot is usually a little in advance of the right foot and during the execution of the shot the weight is shifted from the right foot to the left foot. The footwork for the backhand stroke is very similar except the right foot is forward and as the stroke is completed the weight is transferred from the left foot to the right foot.
