Joe Namath on broads, hookers, drunk

At the end of the 1968 football season, after winning the championship of the American Football League, the players of the victorious New York Jets, with their happy wives, were given a party.

Each married player, when called on to speak, glowingly thanked his wife for being a loyal and cooperative helpmate by showing unusual patience and understanding all through that glorious season. When it was the turn of the Jets' fabulous quarterback Joe Namath to speak, the team's most celebrated playboy-bachelor arose and simply said:

"And I want to thank all the broads in town."
