Playing baseball in a corn field
On a post-season tour in the sticks, a bunch of major-leaguers found themselves playing a small-town outfit on a field surrounded by corn that ran all around the outfield.
"They'll beat the pants off us," said one of the major-leaguers. "If the ball ever gets into that corn, we're sunk."
"No, you're not," answered one of the coaches, handing him a sack of baseballs. "Go out there and plant these along the edge of the outfield when nobody's looking."
Seven surprised local baserunners were thrown out that day from the outfield.
