Red Jones umpires praying singing
The former famous major-league umpire Red Jones recalls the time he and an umpire friend were invited to lead a community sing at a church social. The preacher asked the congregation to turn to page forty-two.
The two umpires sounded the first note in their deep baritone voices, but suddenly, both shut their mouths, and no sound came forth. For when the two umpires scanned the pages, they noted the name of the hymn was "Open Thine Eyes."
