Horse racing affairs and cheating betting

A jealous wife rummaged through her husband's pants pockets early one morning while he was still asleep and found a little black book in which was written the single entry, "Laura Kane, Central 721." She woke the guy up and stuck the little book under his nose.

"What does this mean?" she demanded.

"Laura Kane?" mumbled the sleepy spouse. "Oh, that's just the name of a horse I played yesterday."

"And what does Central stand for?"

"That's Central Avenue, honey, the street my bookie lives on."

"Uh, huh. And 721?"

"Why, sweetheart, that's just the odds on the horse. You know, seven to one."

While his wife was still wondering, the husband went back to sleep. An hour or so later she shook him vigorously by the shoulder.

"What's the matter now?" he demanded.

"Get up, you bum!" she snapped. "Your horse is on the phone!"
