The excited Washington coach watched an Oregon back intercept a pass and start down the near sideline towards the Washington goal. "No! No!" he screamed in anguish. "Don't let him get away! Somebody stop him! Stop him! Oh, isn't there anybody who'll stop him?"
"There sure is, coach!". shouted one of the Washington substitutes from his place near the frantic coach. "I will!" And with that, the splinter-ridden youth leaped from his seat and tackled the enemy runner as he sped past.
A certain riot was narrowly averted when Washington hastily conceded the touchdown to the thwarted Oregonians.
