How come Minnesota football players are so big
This was Bernie Bierman's classic jest in answer to the question so frequently thrown at him by marvelling football fans.
"How do I get such big men for my Minnesota teams?" began Bernie. "I'll tell you, my friend. I go driving out along a country road until I see a boy walking behind a plow. I stop and ask him the way to Minneapolis. If he leaves the plow and points the way for me with his finger, I thank him and drive on. But if he picks up the plow and uses it for a pointer, that's my man! I just load him in the car with me and bring him right to the registrar's office!"
