Keeping Cool During Hot Atheltic Events - Arctic Heat Vests
Youth soccer is played at the end of the summer and into fall here in the Midwest. When you get to high school the boys play in the fall and the girls play in the spring. Regardless of when they play it's always hot for part of the season. It's not uncommon to see a soccer game played in 95 degree weather with high humidity.
To keep the players cool we'd rotate them in and out and have a bucket of wash clothes in ice waiting for them. That, plus the constant stream of water into their bodies, seemed to keep them cool, but by the end of the game it was cooked. Well done.
We came across an excellent product called Arctic Heat Cooling Vest. It's made by Arctic Heat USA and provides cooling to players when they need it.

These vests are lightweight and have two features that help to maintain a cool body:
- A gel substance that not only maintains it's cool temperature, but absorbs perspiration.
- The fabric used for the vests allows for air flow in and through the vest.
The Arctic Heat vests are chilled by dipping them in water. This is a great recovery feature so that you can rechill the vests during the game.
The Arctic Heat vests are pricey starting at $174.95, but could be worth it for a traveling team.
