Silver ions keep you cool in sports?

Were you aware that silver ions can help you keep cool? We've discussed how to keep athletes cool before with the Arctic Heat vests. At least those made sense. Silver ions?

A company named Zensah makes a seamless shirt and shorts that supposedly keep you cool by using hydrophobic fabric. Yes, hydrophobic. The fabric is actually afraid of water. Is that a good thing?

Now, I understand the seamless part. That's actually pretty cool, but the hydrophobic? Why not make it heatphobic?

Anyway, onto these silver ions. That's what really caught my attention. According to their website, the silver ions "regulate body heat temperature during intense activity."

I'll be honest, I have no idea what silver ions do or how they help body temperature, so I turned to Google for silver ion help.

It turns out that silver ions have been used in the following claims:

Does this work? I have no idea, but it's rather funny. If it works as promised it's actually like a second skin, an exoskeleton for the athlete.
